The Market ended this week with a handsome 1181pt or 3.8pc gain, wiping out almost 80pc of January's 1500 point loss. Last week's tally was 350pts. Average turnover this week was 144mln shares up 24pc. Value traded was Rs.8.5bln up 22pc. The index found support mainly in Banking and Oil stocks. Banks rallied after an unchanged interest rate in Saturday's monetary policy statement. Regional market sentiment and stronger crude oil prices brought the market out of January's pall. Foreign outflow this week was USD2.16mln compared to USD7mln last week.
Among actively traded stocks the weeks winners were HBL, HCAR and JSCL with 12, 13 and 15pc increase in values. Lucky cement was up 7pc. POL closed up 4pc, PSO 6pc, MARI 9pc
