The market shot up 1.22pc, 424pts crossing 35000 with ease to close at 35321 on sentiment regarding OGDC possibly becoming Sharia comliant and certain big cap companies getting included in MSCI EMI. Turnover was 279mln shares and value traded made a 6 month high at Rs 17.3bln. Banking and cement stocks led the Index higher. Cements resumed their rally today after a hiatus, led by LUCK up 5pc. The Big Three, MCB, UBL and HBL edged higher by over a percent. E&P's didnt do much with the exception of MARI up 5pc and POL 2.2pc.
Volume leaders for the day were PTC, TRG, SNGP, BOP and KEL. Engro was the at the top of the actively traded stocks by value with turnover of Rs 2bln, a two month high, gaining almost 3pc in the process. Interestingly since Apr 29 Foreign flows have turned positive for five consecutive sessions, bringing the total tally at usd13.142mln.
