The index closed down 116pts at 33949. Turnover was almost level with yesterday at 184mln shares but value traded was 11pc higher at Rs 8bln. The Index stayed positive for most of today's session in line with regional markets but closed down towards the end in the face of a late surge of selling. Today's net outflow number was USD 12.3mln. Volumes were concentrated in chemicals, refineries, securities, tech and communication and oil and gas marketing and power generation. 50pc of today's turnover came from these sectors. Companies that saw high volumes were Descon chemical, Lotte, Byco, Prl and Atrl. Pervez Ahmad, JSCL, Southern electric, TRG and telecard. PPL attracted selling because the government has refused to extend its lease for Sui. Today's movers were Attock Refinery, Byco, Mari, Ghandara Nissan and Pakistan refinery putting in gains of 3-5pc.
Crescent Steel and Mughal lost 2.5 to 3.8 pc. Merit Packaging lost 5 pc.
