The Market closed up 217pts finally breaking through resistance at 33000 ending at 33139. Both turnover and value jumped 42pc to 163mln shares and Rs9.7bln respectively.
Volume leaders for the day were KEL, TRG, PAEL, DCL and HBL. HBL saw highest value traded so far this year. The market was generally positive marking the initiation of the consultative process by MSCI for Pakistan's potential reclassification to emerging market. Banks and cement sector saw some movement. KOHC, PIOC, CHCC and DGKC put in gains. MTL, TRIPF and NATF hit upper lock.

The index closed up 28pts at 32922. The open was firm at one point over 100pts plus. Turnover was lower by 10pc while value traded rose 20pc to Rs6.5bln.
SEARL, EFOODS, AGTL, NATF and MARI closed the session at upper cap. SING and DFML closed over 4pc lower. Volume leaders were SNGP, TRG, SSGC, TPL and DFML. SEARL, EFOODS, ENGRO, MARI, SNGP and FFC topped the list of actively traded scrips. Hascol announced full year EPS of Rs 9.39 with a Rs3 payout. GLAXO announced full year earnings of Rs 8.3 with a payout of Rs 4. Mari hit uppercap on a significant exploration find, The market oscillated 100pts in both directions today before closing 27pts plus at 32904. Turnover was just 86mln shares while value traded slumped to Rs 4.6bln.
In what was listless session Glaxo and MLCF performed gaining 3.6 and 2.4pc. Singer rose 5pc. Today's outflow number was USD1.3mln. |
